Since 1929, the staff of Battelle Memorial Institute have dedicated themselves to furthering the purposes set forth in the Last Will and Testament of our founder, Gordon Battelle. The Will of Gordon Battelle calls upon us to pursue excellence in science, operations and philanthropy.
One of the cornerstones of our pursuit of excellence is a culture that reflects the importance of superior business performance and ethical behavior. Ethical behavior means complying with the laws and policies that apply to our work in all instances and, in many cases, holding ourselves to a higher standard than the law or our policies require. This is the expectation for all Battelle staff, regardless of their talent, position or performance. No one is above the rules and no business objective is worth achieving if we have to sacrifice our integrity to do so. Our staff is expected to be active supporters of our business mission and committed stewards of our culture, and to lead by example with respect to ethical behavior.
