Largest Meeting of USAF & Department of Defense Logisticians

Columbus, OH—In a time of newly emerging threats to national security, Battelle is helping the United States Air Force (USAF) and other military services.  Battelle will demonstrate its advanced technologies that could significantly affect the way military logisticians perform their jobs today.

These emerging technologies also will make the weapon and support systems they operate and maintain more effective and reliable for the war fighters and affordable for our nation.

This annual Logistics Officers Association (LOA) Conference will take place at the Columbus Convention Center Oct. 12-15.  Keynote speakers will include the USAF Chief of Staff, the Commander of Air Force Materiel Command, the Vice Commander of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and a host of senior commanders and directors from the USAF Acquisition, Operations, and Logistics communities.  As many as 1,800 uniformed and civil service personnel ranging from 2nd Lieutenants to Four Star generals and Senior Executive Service (SES) officials will attend.

Originating in the mid to late 1970s as the aircraft Maintenance Officer Association (MOA), this organization rapidly developed a robust grassroots following throughout the Air Force and expanded its ranks in the early 1990s to include many other support career fields to more collectively address the many challenges presented by the rapidly aging fleets of USAF aircraft.

Among the large number of government and industry exhibits, displays and lectures, the conference attendees will also address policy changes, force modernization, and emerging threats to national security.

“Battelle scientists and engineers are delighted to be able to demonstrate and discuss the new technologies they are working on that will change the way these USAF logisticians think about and perform their jobs,” said Mike Hogan, Battelle’s Air Force Market Sector, Sustainment Account Director.  “We’ll be demonstrating a wide range of technology applications including employment of fuel cells in place of diesel generators for powered ground support equipment, advanced armor applications, Conditioned Based Maintenance (CBM) for legacy aircraft, and some fascinating developments in the munitions and energetics arena.”
