Release Date: 20 June 2008
Columbus company now 73rd of 16,000 contractors
Columbus, OH—Battelle has moved up in the rankings of the 16,000+ companies that contract under the federal government’s General Services Administration (GSA), the agency responsible for contracting products and services. Two years ago, Battelle cracked the top 100, coming in at No. 99. According to the Federal Times' Top 250 GSA Vendor ranking, in 2007 Battelle moved up 26 spots to No. 73, ranking it in the top 0.5 percent.
All federal agencies use GSA schedules, or categories of products and services, as well as quasi-federal organizations, state and local governments, and others. There are currently 53 GSA schedules and Battelle works in six of them, totaling $68 million in billable labor. Battelle’s GSA schedules currently include professional engineering services, mission-oriented business integrated services, environmental advisory services, logistics worldwide, training services, and information technology.
The fact that there are 47 other schedules indicates a growth potential for Battelle in the GSA area. “GSA schedules are broad in scope and quick and easy to use,” said Dr. Satya Chauhan, the director for Battelle’s GSA Task Order Contracting. “We already have prices and terms negotiated. Moving up on the list means we provided better value than our competitors.”
