BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPOINTS CHARLES J. BRAMLAGE NEW PRESIDENT AND CEO OF BATTELLEPHARMA

Bramlage as the company's next President and CEO, effective immediately. Bramlage will succeed Dennis B. Cearlock, who will leave BattellePharma to become the President, CEO, and Board Chairman of Zivena, a new company formed from BattellePharma in November, 2002, focusing on inhaled oncology products. Bramlage joined BattellePharma in April, 2001 as the Senior Vice President and General Manager, Specialty Pharmaceuticals where he has been responsible for building the future drug delivery business and new pulmonary drug product franchises. Prior to that, he served in executive positions at GlaxoSmithKline including Vice President of Respiratory Commercial Global Development in London, England where he was responsible for the global launch of Seretide in 1999. From 1995-1998, he served as Vice President of U.S. Respiratory and Cardiovascular Marketing in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina where he was responsible for the U.S. launch of Flovent in 1996. Under his leadership, Flovent, Serevent, and Flonase all became the leaders in their respective market segments. He also served as Director of the Oncology Products for GSK in 1994 and 1995. Bramlage received his BA in Business Administration from The Ohio State University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Dayton.
