At Battelle, we believe that applying the innovation and creativity of our people to public and private partnerships is one of the best uses of our resources to advance communities and quality of life.

Ed Home III.jpgWith this in mind, we are endeavoring to be a catalyst for sustainable positive change in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education on a national scale. We are redefining what it means to be an engaged corporation to advance education through our work in support of student achievement, school development, teacher preparation, retention and intervention, policy, and measurement and accountability.  All of our efforts leverage Battelle’s extraordinary technical staff, our access to unique facilities, our systems design capability, and our program management expertise to connect as many related efforts as possible to bring new scale to education solutions.

Battelle delivers and sustains numerous educational programs that engage K-12, higher education, business and informal science education centers by utilizing our award-winning, staff-driven employee volunteer program; by employing innovative means to collaborate and build networks; and by leveraging our connections to the world-class research facilities of the U.S. Department of Energy and Department of Homeland Security.

Our legacy:

From the last Will and Testament of Gordon Battelle Item Twenty-First:

“All of the residue of my estate of every kind and character, I give, devise and bequeath to the trustees hereinafter named for foundation of a “Battelle Memorial Institute,” to be established in such manner as said trustees may designate in accord with the laws of the State of Ohio, and located in or near the City of Columbus, Ohio, for the purpose of education in connection with and the encouragement of creative and research work and the making of discoveries and inventions.”

In Witness Whereof:

I have hereunto set my hand this 24th day

of November, in the year of our Lord one

thousand nine hundred and twenty.
