Student Participation

University students are encouraged to attend the Symposium and will find participation valuable to their career development. In addition to the technical information gained by attending presentations and visiting exhibits, students will be able to meet and talk with environmental professionals representing a wide range of work experience and employers. A career center will provide space for students, other participants, and prospective employers to post information and conduct interviews; a student networking lunch will be held on Wednesday. The student registration rates represent substantial savings over the standard rates.

Student Paper Competition
Winners have been selected and will give presentations at the Symposium. They will be recognized during the Plenary Session and will receive complimentary registrations, copies of the proceedings, and, through the generosity of corporate sponsors, cash awards to help cover travel and related costs.

Student Networking Lunch

On Wednesday, during the general lunch break for Symposium participants, one dining room will be reserved for students and specially selected mentors. This will provide an opportunity for students to talk with environmental professionals from a variety of public- and private-sector organizations about career directions and to meet fellow students, many of whom will be their colleagues in the future. Additional information is being provided by e-mail to everyone registered at student rates and to the mentors.

Career Center
An area in the Exhibit Hall will be available for students, other Symposium participants, and prospective employers to post resumes and employment-available notices and to conduct on-site interviews. Resumes and job descriptions may be posted beginning on Monday afternoon; be sure to include a cell phone number on the posting so that participants can contact you directly during the Symposium. Interview carrels will be available in a room next to the Career Center bulletin boards; a sign-up sheet will be provided to reserve a carrel for a specific time.

Reduced Registration Rate

The student rate is approximately half the university rate and provides full access to all technical sessions, exhibits, and meals. Full-time university students are eligible; documentation of current enrollment is required.
