![]() BATTELLE’S RICH ROSEN JOINS COLUMBUS STATE BOARD
Appointment for six years
COLUMBUS, Ohio (March 10, 2010) — Rich Rosen, Battelle’s Corporate Vice President of Education and Philanthropy, has been appointed to a six-year term on the Board of Columbus State Community College.
Rosen has a long record of positively impacting education in Ohio. He is responsible for Battelle’s corporate engagement and philanthropic activities in education outreach and in the community and is executive director of the Ohio STEM Learning Network (http://www.osln.org), a public/private education initiative with the state of Ohio and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN) is an unprecedented collaborative aimed at building and connecting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) teaching and learning capacity in regions across the state of Ohio. At its core, the OSLN is focused on student and teacher success, built from a slate of more than 300 committed partners from Pre-K-12 education, higher education and business and industry. Rosen leads Battelle’s initiatives to measure student achievement, assist professional teacher development and promote inquiry-based learning, especially in STEM disciplines. This educational work involves influencing policy as well as implementing programs that can be scaled to regional and national significance.
Rosen has served on numerous nonprofit boards and currently is on the boards of Action for Children, I Know I Can, Battelle for Kids, the Washington STEM Center, Oak Ridge Associated Universities, TechColumbus, and the Science and Technology Campus Corporation. He is also a steering committee member for the National Governor’s Association Ohio STEM Center.
In his 29-year career at Battelle, Rosen has held corporate and senior management positions, including general management of the product development and medical device technical groups. He has represented Battelle in community and state-wide initiatives, including the Metro High School, technology transfer policy, and technology based economic development.
